December Daily

The holidays are upon us and tomorrow marks the first day of December...man did the year fly by. Last year I made a December Daily-ish mini book. I started it on Thanksgiving and planned on documenting until New Years. Like most of my creative projects I start out strong and then something happens....In the end I ended up with about 20 days..not including Christmas or New Year Eve. Fail.

My success rate at completing a mini is dismal to say the least, so this year my dear friend Xtine said she would play along too. The first one to crap out on the project is to buy the other one dinner (or lunch or brunch or costco buffet..hehe).

I've been really inspired by the December Daily talk on Ali Edward's Blog and Studio Calico Gallery and wanted to try my hand at a true December Daily this year. I was going to get the Studio Calico December Daily add-on kit last month, but opted instead to use stuff from my stash (and man do I have a lot of stuff!)

So here is the cover of my December Daily:

The cover is a piece of cardboard cut to 6x8. I painted it white and used masking tape and stencil letters to create a "holiday" mask. I misted the cover with Mister Huey in Bluegrass. Once that dried, I peeled the letters off and traced the letters with a silver pen. For the year I used Sprinkle Thickers.

For the base pages I am using a mix of papers and embellishments from the Boardwalk and Metropolitan Studio Calico kits, as well as random papers and overlays from my stash. I only created about 10 base pages and plan on creating additional pages as the month continues. I think this will give me a little more freedom in the creation process.

As you can see, I've already created my introduction and I'm ready to start documenting tomorrow!

  1. Hello, friend. It is officially December 2nd. I think I want a Big Mac. Or Chick-Fil-A lunch. Or Ruby's. Or Red Robin. Thanks!
