Last year the tree was sparsely decorated with various shades of green and gold ornaments..and when I say sparsely, I mean it was only decorated in the front. hehe. I had just gotten a house earlier that year and so I didn't have much of holiday decorating budget. Most of the decorations were unused items from my parents house, with a few sale items I bought before Christmas. After Christmas last year I bought the blue and magenta ornaments super cheap from Target. Most of the ornaments are still in the front, so I think I will be making another after Christmas ornament purchase this year. :)
On one side of the mantel I created a little display. The glass vases are three candle holders that were used as centerpieces at one of my cousin's wedding. I filled the tall with with glittery gold curly sticks. I have no idea what they are for or where they came from..but I found them in my parent's Christmas decoration stash that they weren't using. The medium height glass is filled with gold holly leaves and gold berry branches. I found that the "stems" were really ugly looking, so I filled the bottom of the vase with a couple of strings of gold beads that you normally hang on your tree. The small vase is filled with gold "sugared" fruit. I had wanted to fill this one up with some mini ornaments, but I ended up using them all on the tree. That's all I have to share for today. I will post a few more pictures once I have completed all the decorations. Everytime I'm near my tree, I keep moving ornaments around. OCD at its finest. hehe.
