In Bloom

I am not much of a gardener...I love flowers and plants..but I think I over-care for them to the point of smothering them to death. I JUST WANT THEM TO GROW DANG IT! So..I'm currently doing my own kind of gardening in the form of fabric flowers. Here are a couple of flowers that I have created recently:

I crocheted this flower from a patterned I learned from The Art of Crochet.  My mom had taught me the basics back in the day. I never really crocheted anything after learning. Then I got into knitting and made a ton of scarves. After finding the crochet mania blog and videos on youtube, I got back into crocheting. I've made a hat, scarf, and tons of flowers. This white one is one of many I've made.

The frayed flower is from Maize in Montana. I really wanted to make some fabric flowers, but had no idea where to start. I googled "fabric flowers" and tons of different blogs and tutorials popped up. I will be making more as soon as I find the time. The one pictured is the second one I've made. I gave my mom the first one I made (same fabric, different button) as part of her Christmas gift. Eventually I want to make a ton of fabric flowers to apply to tote bags, pins, headbands, etc. I can have my own garden in bloom all year round. :)
