Headband/Headwarmer Collaboration

My mom bought a green headband/headwarmer thingy at the farmer's market yesterday. I thought it was super-cute so we decided to recreate it. Initially I tried to crochet the ribbing horizontal like the original, but for some reason I could not get it to work. It looks like the band might have been knitted, and the border around it was crocheted. Its hard to tell without taking it apart.

I crocheted the red band using a series of single stiches and my mom came in and finished the edges and created a flower. Pretty good, eh? hehe.
